Oggetto: XX CERTAMEN ENNIANUM – Anno 2013. Gara internazionale di lingua e cultura latina riservata a studenti dei licei italiani ed europei.

 

Il Liceo Classico “Giuseppe Palmieri” di Lecce, indice il XX Certamen Ennianum, gara internazionale di lingua e cultura latina, riservata agli studenti del penultimo e dell’ultimo anno dei Licei Italiani ed Europei, compresa tra le iniziative di valorizzazione delle eccellenze previste dal Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca.

Il Certamen Ennianum ha lo scopo di favorire contatti e scambi culturali tra i Licei del territorio nazionale ed europeo, di approfondire la conoscenza del grande poeta latino Q. Ennio e di promuovere il territorio salentino attraverso la conoscenza delle città messapiche del Salento.

Il concorso si distingue in due sezioni, quella esterna (Ennianum Maius), destinata agli studenti dei Licei italiani ed europei, e la sezione interna (Ennianum Minus) riservata agli studenti del Liceo “G. Palmieri.

La domanda di partecipazione deve essere inviata (via fax al 0832/257773 o via mail all’indirizzo lepc03000r@istruzione.it ) al Dirigente Scolastico del Liceo Classico “G. Palmieri” di Lecce entro il 23 marzo 2013. La prova si svolgerà il 10 Maggio 2013 nell’Aula Magna del Liceo “G.Palmieri”,  consisterà nella traduzione in italiano di un testo latino tratto dall’opera di Ennio o concernente Ennio, e in un commento linguistico e/o storico e/o letterario e/o estetico. Traduzione e commento possono essere svolti anche in lingua inglese (o altra lingua comunitaria). Il tempo a disposizione per la prova è di 5 ore. Per ogni altra informazione, si fa rinvio al  Regolamento allegato.

Art.1

Art.3

The contest consists of two sections: the outside one (Ennianum Maius) intended for Italian and European High Schools’ students, and the inside one (Ennianum Minus) intended for “Palmieri” ’s High School students.

 

Art. 4

The section Certamen Ennianum Maius is opened to students attending the 4th and 5th year of Italian and European High Schools in the year 2012/2013, having achieved a grade not lower than 8/10 in Latin during the past conclusive assignment of marks. Two (2) students per school may attend the contest. The test will take place on May 10th 2013 and consists of a translation in Italian of a Latin text taken by Ennio’s work or about Ennio, and a linguistic and/or historical and/or literary and/or aesthetic comment. Both translation and comment may be done in English or any other European Community language. Students will have 5 (five) hours’ time.

 

Art.5

The section Certamen Ennianum Minus is opened to “Palmieri’s” High School students attending the 4th and the 5th year during the school year 2012/2013, having achieved  a grade not lower than 8/10 in Latin during the past conclusive assignment of marks. Two (2) students per class (28 in all) having all the requisite qualifications may take part in tha competition sending off a written application; the Certamen’s assessment Commission, made up of Palmieri’s Headmaster, the referee teacher and the F.O., will write the merit list according to the following criterions:

judgement/mark in Latin at the end of the last school year;

in case of an equal mark, thw overall average achieved in the final assignment of marks.

In case of relinquishes of demands, the available places will be assigned among the other applicants running the list.

The test will take place on May 10th 2013 and consists of a translation in Italian of a Latin text taken by Ennio’s work or about Ennio, and a linguistic and/or historical and/or literary and/or aesthetic comment. Students will have 5 (five) hours’ time.

 

Art.6

The external candidates have to fill in the enclosed application form and give it to their School’s Headmaster who will verify all the requisite qualifications and will forward the visa application to the Palmieri’s High School Headmaster, by and not later than March 23rd 2013 (fax.n.0832-257773 or rather by e-mail LEPC03000R@istruzione.it). The registered Schools and candidates will receive the confirmation of their participation form.

 

Art.7

The partecipants must exhibit a valid identification paper.

 

Art.8

The text of the contest will be selected by the University of Salento’s Professors, who teach outside “Palmieri” High School.

 

Art.9

The Judicatory Commission, presided by “G.Palmieri’s” High School Headmaster, is made up of “Palmieri’s” High Scool Latin teachers, by external teachers and/or University Professors, and by experts in Latin language and culture. The Commission is made up of two distinct sub-commissions that will examine the tests referred either to the external section or to the internal one, according to the following assessment rules:

translation accuracy;

proper and accurate Italian (or English or any other European Community language) rendering,

precise, relevant and thorough comment.

The external student test’s assessment will be expressed by the Palmieri’s High School Teachers, the internal one by High School teachers or University Professors entirely unrelated to the school.

Teachers or former teachers of students taking part to the contest are not allowed to enter the judicatory sub-commissions in this section.

 

 Art.10

According to the list  expressed by the Committee, the following prizes will be awarded for Ennianum Maius:

 1°  Prize  :  € 500,00

2°  Prize  : €  300,00

Mentions of merit for students ranked from the third to the fifth place are contemplated.

 

Art.11

According to the list expressed by the Committee, the following prizes will be awarded for Ennianum Minus:

 1°  Prize  :  €  200,00

 2°  Prize  :  €  100,00

Mentions of merit for students ranked from the third to the fifth place are contemplated.

 

Art.12

Every participant will receive a participation reference.

 

Art.13

The competition is included inside a course of cultural celebrations performed from 9th to 11th May 2013. The programme in its general outlines, is enclosed to the regulations.

 

Art.14

Students’ and guide teachers’ travelling expenses are chargeable to the participants Schools. The High School Palmieri students’ families declaring their willingness will give hospitality to the first 20 students coming from other Italian Regions or from other countries; their guide teachers will be lodged in B&B or any suitable accommodation. If applications exceeded the availability, the principle applied for the accommodation will aim at assuring the representatives to the greatest number of Regions, the chronological order of the application forms delivery and, in case of the same date, the best merit qualification (mark in Latin; overall average in the final assignment of marks). When possible, students and teachers coming from different places in Puglia will be offered the overnight accommodation too. Instances for overnight accommodation must be notified together with the registration demand. Students and guide teachers will be welcomed to the the railway station in Lecce and to the airport city terminal at the mouth of Lecce-Brindisi freeway and brought to their individual accommodation.
